The irony of human experience is that when we see people laughing but cannot hear them, we can sense it as if we were hearing their laughter. We may not fully be immersed in the real or imagined reality, but we can appreciate the experience and emotion. A similar observation, too, for those in the café sharing the laugh: even though they are not under the developing storm unfolding over the streets, they share the urge to seek a dry shelter away from the pouring rain.
