Kitalpha α Equ

Eridanus No. 4

2025

Brass quintet

Horn in F. Trumpets Bb 1 & 2, Trombone Bb and Tuba Bb

This piece draws inspiration from planetary systems. Most are not within our sight, yet they span a vast area, and even greater is their distance from us. Kitalpha α Equ (alpha Equulei, pronounced e-qui-lay) bears some fascinating interests. Despite its situation, it has many companions. It lies in a darker section of the sky, referred as Emptiness or Ruins, and a better way to locate it is to find other brigher stars (e.g. Pegasus) near it. Kitalpha in fact has two stars orbitting each other very closely.
